What happens during the intensive?

Warm-Up & Icebreakers: Get comfortable fast with group games that loosen nerves and spark quick laughs.

Joke Writing: Learn the building blocks of a great joke and a variety of ways to misdirect the audience. Gain tools on how to generate endless material from your own life and experiences.

On-Your-Feet Drills: Test bits in front of the group. Practice timing, delivery, riffing, staying in the bit, and more.

Stage Presence & Confidence: Discover how to connect with the audience, so even if you bomb, you can find a way to make the room laugh.

Mini-Showcase: Each participant gets stage time to perform a short set in a supportive, workshop-style showcase.

About your teacher

Olivia Hill wishes she was a trophy wife, a dentist, or a skipper on The Jungle Cruise. But she has been doomed to a life of stand up comedy. Which is still pretty fun. Olivia has been performing for 10 years and was named one of New York Comedy Festival’s "Comics to Watch." She can be seen performing regularly at The Hollywood Improv, The Crow, The Westside Comedy Theatre, and all over the country. Like any other Los Angeleno with a dream, she can also be seen in random commercials & emceeing all sorts of events around Los Angeles!
